Kenzero Scareware Hides In Japanese Porn

Japanese users have recently been infected by a virus that is installed while downloading any Hentai porn via a popular file sharing program called Winny.

It reveals their data and threatens to publish the details of what they are downloading onto  the web if they don’t pay a sum of £10.

This fee is either for their supposed violation of copyright laws which they have committed by downloading said porn content illegally, or is simply a ransom for not making their indiscretions public.

The virus is known as ‘Kenzero’ and it is installed when porn or hentai games are installed.

The virus will then search the hard drive of the user for any illegally downloaded material and threaten the user with it.

It asks for personal details in the game installation screen and then takes a screenshot of the user’s data to threaten them with publication of their details and associated misdeeds.

The same virus works in the USA and the UK in separate ways, by demanding ransom from the users. (ransomware such as this is similar to scareware)

It infects multimedia file or document files and demands money for providing a decryption key to unlock them.

The virus also poses as a legal threat from a copyright foundation named ICCP that sends lawsuit letters to the user of infected pc along with the offer of a deal – they can pay a settlement fee of 0 from their credit card.

As you may expect, these credit card details are then also sold on after the 0 has been collected!

Of course the best solution is to not download any potentially dubious file from the internet in the first place.

If you fail on that score then at least make sure that you install a good antivirus program to deal with the mess you get yourself into.
